Frequently Asked Questions

Question:
Are you FSC certified?
Answer:
Yes, we are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. As an FSC certified distrubutor, we guarantee that our stamped materials are harvested from forests in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. The FSC is an independent, transparent association which ensures that all steps of the lumber harvesting and distribution process are performed in a manner that promotes forest sustainability and healthy ecosystems. For more information, please visit the Forest Stewardship Council's website.

loadingQuestion:
Do you deliver to the Virginia and Washington DC areas?
Answer:
Yes. We make deliveries to the Northern Virginia and Washington DC areas on a daily basis, and will deliver materials across the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.

Question:
Do we handle windows and doors?
Answer:
In the past, we have not made windows and doors a priority. However, there are certain situations in which we will participate in these areas. For either commercial projects or upper end custom houses, we will offer pricing on wood clad Kolbe & Kolbe Windows. We also have recently been asked to become a distributor of Anderson Windows and this is something that we are currently contemplating with respect to the commercial market. So with respect to these two particular lines of windows, we would be receptive to fielding your inquiries.

With regard to doors, our policy is very similar. We are not interested in becoming a supplier of doors to the residential market, however we will quote large, commercial projects on a case by case basis. A recent example of this would be our involvement on the Inner Harbor East Apartments in Baltimore, Maryland. So, if you have a requirement which fits this particular paradigm, please give us a call.

Question:
Does your firm do take offs?
Answer:
The basic answer to this question is no. We simply do not have the time or expertise to perform this function and we have found that most everyone does take offs differently. However, we recommend people who specialize in this area of work and will be pleased to share that information with you.

Question:
Do you publish a weekly price list?
Answer:
No. Pricing in our industry is subject to frequent fluctuations and it is just not possible for us to continuously update the hundreds of different items which we have in stock. However, there are independent publications such as Random Lengths which compile regular composite indexes and those publications are available to us. They assist us in looking at past historical trends moreso than being able to predict the best optimum purchasing times on a week by week basis. If these tools would be helpful or unique to your business, we'd like to help you.

Question:
Is there a minimum order required and do we assess a delivery charge?
Answer:
We evaluate inquiries on a case by case basis. Customarily, we do not think of ourselves as retail oriented distributors. There are a number of large, public companies that cater to the "Do It Yourself"/"Home Remodeling Business". As a rule, this is not a part of the market sector in which we actively participate. Consequently, minimum orders are normally not an issue. The same principle holds true for deliveries. While we cannot accommodate every request, it is our goal to fulfill every order in a professional and timely manner. However, if an order is simply too small for us to handle or if we believe a delivery charge is absolutely warranted, we'll let you know. There are never any surprises.

Question:
Do you accept credit cards?
Answer:
Yes. We are currently accepting Visa and Master Card.
