Recently, the areas of senior housing and assisted living facilities, as well as franchise builders of hotels and extended stay facilities have also come to rely upon our services.

Although our area of service has heretofore been confined to the Eastern Seaboard, we are now exploring the possiblity of supplying these types of projects on a nationwide basis. So, if you participate in the construction or development of multi family housing anywhere in the United States, we'd like to hear from you.

Pallets, Boxes, Skids & Crates:

sawGrasmick Lumber Company manufacturers custom made pallets on site. We are not in the used pallet business nor do we have any desire to be a part of that market. Our focus is to produce customized pallets for manufacturing concerns up and down the East Coast. We have no minimum quantity and will be pleased to entertain any and all inquiries. The same is true for boxes, skids and crates. We can fabricate almost any size required and these products can be supplied in either a "knock down" or "pre-assembled" form. Simply fax us a drawing or sketch of your specific requirement and we will be pleased to provide you with a quotation.

making palletsWith our computerized Holtec Saw which precision end trims bundles of lumber to exacting tolerances and our Wood Mizer Saw which remanufactures "cants" to various thickness, we are capable of handling a wide variety of specifications. In situations where it has been deemed prudent to consummate long term, blanket purchase orders, we will pre-manufacture pallets or skids and inventory them for prompt delivery.

In addition to interacting directly with various manufacturing and industrial concerns, we welcome and protect brokers as well. Please call us with your inquiries or simply fax us a diagram of your skid or pallet.

Mats:

As an adjunct to our pallet and skid business, we welcome all requests for crane mats or street mats. Typically, these items can be produced using timbers ranging in size from 6 x 12 through 12 x 12 in either Rough Mixed Hardwoods or Southern Yellow Pine. Mats can generally run from ten feet to forty feet in length. So, if you are a contractor located anywhere on the East Coast in need of this service, we are here to help you.

Lauan Plywood:

Over the past few years, Grasmick Lumber has become one of the largest suppliers on the East Coast of:

4 x 8 1/4' Lauan Plywood, DBB/CC, Meranti, 5.2 mm

When going out state, half truckloads are normally the smallest quanity of shipment which we can entertain. If you are someone who uses a significant amount of this underlayment material, perhaps we can assist you.

Exports:

truckThe Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area is the fourth largest metropolitan market in the United States. There are a wide variety of industries concentrated around this geographic area including a number of Fortune 500 Companies. The Port of Baltimore currently provides service to approximately three hundred locations throughout the world and Grasmick, with it's initial roots being founded around the local maritime community is pleased to be a part of that infrastructure. We have heretofore offered our services to such far flung destinations as Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Iceland and St. Maartens in the Dutch West Indies just to name a few. Whatever your needs are within the realm of building supplies, please feel free to utilize our expertise. Our relationships within the shipping industry include associations with freight forwarders, agents, export packaging firms, etc.. We will ship to any destination around the world and are eager to be of assistance.

Remanufacturing:

We not only cut lumber to size for our pallet operation but also formaking pallets many other independent dealers and distributors in the region as well. We can either provide you with the total, finished product or simply take your raw material and provide only the milling service. From boards to timbers, our Holtec Saw can handle your project.

Architectural Millworking:

The newest service which we are offering is in the area of architectural millworking. Although we do not actually perform the service ourselves at our Quad Avenue facility, we have forged a cooperative alliance with one of the premiere architectural woodworking operations in the Eastern United States. We have demonstrated our ability to be competitive in this area and will provide testimonials or references upon request.

Mulch & Sawdust:

Within the past year, we have added to our list of equipment a state of the art, High Torque Shredder, manufactured in Salem, Oregon. As a byproduct of our fabrication and remanufacturing operation, we develop a fairly large amount of scrap wood which is now converted into raw mulch and sawdust. The sawdust is normally available in container load quantities and the mulch can be delivered by the trailer load. If you are in the landscaping business, or own a horse farm for example, perhaps these products would be useful to you.

Heat treating facility

The Louis J. Grasmick Lumber Compay has a fully operational kiln which is capable of heat treating all of your export packaging requirements. We are a complying member of the Timber Products Inspection Agency and, as such, have the authority to issue the Heat Treating certificate.

The heat treating process is used to protect lumber against the pinewood nematode (Bursaphelenchus Xylophilius), a microscopic worm-like organism which can have a serious impact on certain types of coniferous forests. This pest is present in North America, Japan, China, Taiwan, and South Korea, and has recently been found in Portugal. To combat this problem, our industry has implemented a self certification (heat treated) program designed to reach a wood core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. The program ensures that the lumber retains its identification.

Please contact us for all of your export packaging needs and heat treated documentation.
